Things to do in the city

February 2026

The City of London, famous for its rich history of business, Livery Companies and legendary social hotspots, is a key part of the capital where visitors and locals alike will enjoy spending time.

Leadenhall Market

This undercover Victorian market hall is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city. The cobbled streets and colourful shop and pub fronts have been used in a variety of film and TV shows, most famously Harry Potter.

Sky Garden

Situated over 500ft above the city in the building nicknamed the 'Walkie Talkie', visitors can dine at this bar and restaurant, and take in the panoramic views across the whole of the city from one of many observation decks. This attraction is just as good at night as it is in the daytime overlooking the skyline and River Thames.

St Paul’s Cathedral

Recognised once as London’s tallest building for over two centuries, this iconic monument has become one of the city’s most popular attractions. The building was designed by the esteemed architect Sir Christopher Wren, and was designed and built after The Great Fire of London destroyed the original ‘Old St Paul’s’.

Smithfield Market

One of the very oldest markets in London, Smithfield Market is a wholesale meat market, open to the public from midnight to 7am. The market is made of wrought iron with a glass roof and cobbled floors, which has made the building and internal atmosphere very enticing to visitors and photographers.

Tower of London

In medieval times, being ‘sent to the tower’ would have been one of the most unpleasant experiences that you could have. Nowadays visiting the tower is an eye-opening and fascinating day out, offering visitors the opportunity to learn the history of the building, inhabitants and role in Royal history.

Monument

Another way to get a high glimpse of the city, without the luxury of floor to ceiling glass and a restaurant at the top, is the Monument, a 61 metre tower commemorating the historic Great Fire of London. Visitors can climb the 311 steps to the top to see the city from an entirely different perspective.

The area offers a wide range of property styles, from period townhouses to contemporary apartments. If you are interested in selling or letting your property in the City of London, our local experts in our North & City office would be delighted to assist you.
